2010 FIFA World Cup Review

The World Cup left England fans angry and disappointed but at least you can take charge of their fortunes with EA’s latest tournament based title.

Running on pretty much an identical FIFA 10 engine fans of the series will find themselves settling easily enough. They have also added a two button control system that will allow anyone to pick up and play which is a nice touch.

One of the most noticeable changes is to penalties. This time there is an added composure bar, miss the sweet spot and you will end up like England at Penalty Shootouts, off target. You can add a little stutter to your run up and if you are feeling extra cheeky you can try to pull off a chipped penalty.

Captain Your Country is essentially Be a Pro except you are trying to impress your way to becoming captain. It’s not a bad mode but despite being Man of the Match and scoring 4 goals in a game I lost the captaincy in the next match. Overall it’s a fun mode though.

There is a Story of Qualification mode where you can play out different scenarios. but this mode isn’t linked to any achievements which I found odd.

The online World Cup is quite good fun though if you wantt to try and win the World Cup with a 1* team you are going to struggle as everybody wants to be Spain now.

The achievement list is ok, mainly quite simple bit the Online World Cup ones will be a little more difficult. I’ve already got over half the achievements and I’ve only had it a week.

If you fancy a bit of a change from FIFA 10 then this is well worth a go, the price will start to drop now the tournament is over so it might be worth holding out a little bit longer before buying but it is definitely worth having a go of.
